Somatic Awareness
Throughout the brainspotting process, I encourage folks to be aware of the sensations and body experiences that are occuring during the focused mindfulness process. This somatic awareness gives a deeper sense and connection to hidden parts of self and memories associated. Many folks experience high activation in their body that signals the “red alert” signals in their brain-body connection. The process can allow folks to allow the experiences to flow and move from that “red alert” state.

Connecting with Deeper States
According to the Ego-States idea, we all have states/parts of ourselves who aid our reality and shape our experiences. For many folks, they are afraid of these states of self as they might be familiar to traumatic and stressful experiences growing up. The focused mindfulness process is an instrumental tool in helping folks discover deeper states of being within.

Bilateral Audios:
Similar to EMDR, many folks find adding audio bilateral music to be very helpful in creating and building a deeper sense in their body during the brainspotting process.
